The Boyfriend: Book Review

The Boyfriend

Book Review

-By Sneha Pala

Let me start off by saying Freida McFadden- what a genius you are. Guys she did it again! I actually read 'The Housemaid' series by Freida earlier this year (Reviews coming soon) and yes she shocked me with that. I actually was scrolling through my twitter or 'X' as you may call it and in one of the communities, I saw some people recommend it so without fail, I started reading it and WOW! I have read quite a few thrillers this year, some predictable and some not so much but with this one I knew there was a crazy plot twist. So jumping into this book, the bars were set pretty high and man oh man I wasn't disappointed.

The book shifts between two povs, namely, Sydney and Tom. The story talks about how Sydney has struggles finding a perfect boyfriend in New York city while one of her close friends gets murdered brutally which attaches to a string of deaths of women which all attach to a mystery boyfriend no one has ever heard about. Amidst all this, she finds a perfect guy, who not only is handsome but also kind and caring but Sydney is still suspicious that he may not be the guy he seems to be. The other pov is of Tom which is based on the past.

I love love loved how the story unfolded and I literally considered every single person as persons of interest but yet I could not solve it. No matter who you consider the killer is, you are wrong. The book was gripping and fast paced which is why I could finish it in three seatings. The story is well thought out and planned and you will constantly be wondering about who the killer is and when you do, you would be dropped with another plot twist.

It has been a while since I had so much fun reading a book. I truly love the genre and am willing to explore more so if you all have any suggestions then do let me know. This book is perfect if you want to get back to reading and want something you won't get bored of or you are celebrating a chill day and have a few hours ahead of you to read a book.

I gave this book a whooping five stars (if that wasn't obvious) and I would highly recommend you all to read it because it is truly amazing. Freida, you Queen, you have done it again. I cannot wait to read more of her books.

Thank you so much for sticking through!
